Q: What are the hidden charges?
At Heartland Mobility, we give you the best price the first time. Our prices include shipping, batteries unless clearly listed in the description that is airline approved, and No taxes for most purchases. The price listed is your true cost. Many dealers add costs for batteries or shipping after you have chosen the item. This gives the consumer the impression of having a lower price.
Q: Why are your prices lower than the competition?
Our primary goal is to service those customers who want improved mobility but do not qualify for assistance through Medicare other insurance. To do this we keep our costs low by shipping direct from the manufacturer. This allows us to pay lower overhead for commissioned sales staff, storage, and billing of insurance. Also, we sell at large volumes, which allow better purchasing leverage. Even though our prices are low you still get a quality name brand product with all benefits of the manufacturers warranty.
Q: Do you take Medicare or other Insurances?
In order to keep our prices low, Heartland Mobility does not process claims through Medicare or other insurances. We will honor purchase orders from most insurance companies. If you meet the Medicare standards for coverage of mobility products we recommend you seek a local dealer who can bill your insurance company. Please see our Medicare Reimbursement section to see if you qualify.
Q: What are the Medicare requirements for mobility products?
Medicare requirements change frequently but have more recently become more stringent. The following information is provided as a courtesy only. It is the customer's responsibility to verify the accuracy of the information.
Scooters
In order to fill out the CMN for a scooter and be considered medically necessary, the following coverage criteria must all be met:
Power Chairs
In order to fill out a CMN for an electric wheelchair and be covered the following criteria must be met:
Lift Chairs
For lift chairs, Medicare will only cover the seat lift mechanism, but not the actual chair itself. The reimbursement amount is roughly $320 depending on the state in which the patient is located. A lift chair would be considered medically necessary if all of the following coverage criteria are met:
By Medicare standards, the fact that a patient has difficulty or is even incapable of getting up from a chair, particularly a low chair, is not sufficient justification for a seat lift mechanism. Almost all patients who are capable of ambulating can get out of an ordinary chair, if the seat height is appropriate and the chair has arms. Medicare requires that the physician ordering the seat lift mechanism must be the attending physician or a consulting physician for the disease or condition resulting in the need for a seat lift.
Q: How much assembly is required for these products?
Lift Chairs - Place batteries in battery backup, plug it in and you are ready to relax.
Scooters - Most scooters will arrive in 3 parts for shipping ease - Scooter, seat, and batteries. It only takes a few minutes to assemble.
*" If you are having trouble with assembly please call. For a small fee we can usually have a local person help with set-up if needed.
Q: What If I Need Service?
In most cases the manufacturer covers the warrantee directly. You will find contact information for the manufacturer in your shipment. Each manufacturer has a network of authorized service centers nationwide. All manufacturers have special toll free referral numbers set up to refer you to the closest authorized service centers in your region. If you have specific questions about a particular manufacturer's warrantee, please e-mail or call customer service.
